Description

Meet Yumi, a 3-year-old Bulldog mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart! Weighing about 50 pounds, Yumi is sweet, energetic, and happiest when she's close to her favorite people. Whether she's snuggling on the couch, soaking up belly rubs, or making the cutest noises while she sleeps or sniffs her way through a neighborhood walk, Yumi is sure to make you smile.Yumi is house-trained, crate-trained, and makes an excellent roommate. She enjoys relaxing around the house, settles well when left alone, and loves spending quality time with her humans. She thrives when she feels connected to her person and is looking for someone who will enjoy building a strong bond with her.Yumi is currently working with a professional trainer and making great progress on calmness, self-control, leash walking, and polite household manners. She is very food motivated, loves to learn, and responds wonderfully to positive reinforcement. Her trainers at the board and train facility are committed to setting her up for success and are happy to provide continued support to help her future adopter as she transitions into her new home and continues building these skills.Yumi has a playful, goofy side and loves games and training with her people, but she's also learning that relaxing is just as rewarding as playtime. Because of her hind leg complications, high impact activities like jumping, rough play, or repeated ball chasing should be limited. She does best with sniff-heavy walks, leisurely strolls, food puzzles, enrichment toys, and training games that keep both her mind and body active. She has also adjusted well to walking with a Gentle Leader.Yumi was friendly with other dogs earlier in her life but recently had some challenges with dogs in a previous foster home, possibly related to discomfort from her hind leg pain. She will do best with slow, thoughtful introductions to other dogs and a calm, structured environment. She cannot live in a home with cats.Yumi is looking for a patient family committed to continuing her positive reinforcement training while providing consistency, daily enrichment, and lots of love. She has so much affection to give and is working hard to become the very best version of herself. With the right guidance, Yumi will be an incredibly loyal, loving, and rewarding companion. If you are interested in Yumi, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450.
