Description
Just before the Fourth of July, Wally arrived at @nycacc with a wound on his leg, likely from spending far too long confined in a space and starting to hurt himself from boredom. No one wanted to help him on a holiday weekend, but we did. Days turned into weeks in boarding, where the amazing people at @ivypetsco carefully treated his injury and changed his bandages (and fell in love with Wally in the meantime). Our trainer recently spent time with Wally and we learned he’s smart, eager to learn, toy and food motivated, and happiest when he has a job to do. Wally loves structure, loves engaging with his people, and would happily be your shadow all day long inside. He’s a young (2 years old/40lb) high-energy dog who never had the chance to learn appropriate outlets, so Wally can get overexcited. He may jump, pull on leash, or get a little mouthy when he’s overstimulated. But these behaviors come from excitement and anxiety - and they’re exactly the kinds of things that improve with consistency, routine, and someone who has experience with high energy breeds! We’re looking for an active foster or adopter who has experience with high-energy breeds and is excited to help Wally reach his full potential. Someone who will celebrate the little victories, stick to a routine, and continue the training that’s already begun! Rescue City will continue providing support through our partnered trainer. Do you have home that can be filled with morning walks, enrichment, adventures, a cozy couch. Are you someone who believes he’s worth the effort? If you think that person could be you, we’d love to hear from you!
