Description
Moose recently spent some time a foster family. Here is what they had to say about this big (102 pound!) boy:`Moose is a fantastic family dog. He's incredibly happy to be around people. He's a great shadow for whatever his people do.He just wants to be a part of everything. He's incredibly smart and intuitive. He figured out potty bells to go outside in under 3 hours. I've never had a dog pick it up that fast. I've used a puzzle feeder with him. He actually uses his nose and doesn't try to rip the tiles off. First day we started on `sit,` `down,` and `stay.` It all clicked fast. By day two, he's doing all three for my little girl from across the room without food. He's very gentle about taking treats, especially with kids.He doesn't counter-surf or beg. First day home we're making dinner and we put him in a `down-stay` outside the kitchen. Only one time did he try to come in. Pointed back at his spot and he went right back. He has been really respectful of my older dog. She told him how close was too close and he hasn't pushed her on that. He's happy to let her eat first and get the pick of the dog beds. She's happy to have him follow her around the yard and curl up next to her. I've had no worries leaving them together for any period of time. He's been great with my cats. He's interested in being social with them and will watch what they do. The cats are less interested, but he won't corner them or chase them. When they hiss, he backs up. The brave cat came down to sniff him and he nosed her gently. He's a den dog. He slept in the laundry room the first night. From the second night on, he's slept under my bed. I'd definitely recommend he get comfortable with a crate. He loves riding in the car and going to the hardware store. Everyone there wants to pet him and tell him he's handsomeWe took him to trivia night last night. He was interested in other dogs; but, didn't chase or bark. He figured out `leave-it`. pretty quickly. For the most part, he was pretty content to just sleep on my foot. He met many other people who were happy to pet him and give him treats. He loved it. He was super gentle with little kids and would nudge them for more attention.Zoey's family brought her to trivia as well. They definitely remember each other. He did big play bows with her and rolled over so she could sniff his tummy. All play signs, zero signs of any sort of aggression or territoriality. He has zero clue how strong he is. Sometimes he'll just bump you trying to walk next to you and it can throw you off balance. He pulls on leash. He's already making progress; but, he will need lots of time and practice so he stays manageable. He could do well with almost any adopter. He wants to please. He doesn't have any bad habits in him at all. He's a giant couch potato. He's super affectionate. At least one of the adopters will need to be physically strong enough to stop him and turn him while he drills loose leash. He can pull me off balance when he isn't thinking about it. Once he figures out he needs to stay with me, he's much easier to handle. He's really going to make his next family super happy.`Interested in meeting Moose?
