UPDATE: Mojo is the BRAVEST BOY! He's been if foster care since March of 2025 and came to CTDR after going through some unknown trauma that made him VERY skittish and scared of EVERYTHING! It took him months to gain the courage just to let me pet him. Took a good 8-12 months for him to let other people pet him. He has come so far and continues to improve. All of this has been done with him facing his fears every day. His favorite things are walks. Somehow having a leash on is like putting his armor on and he can face the world - his entire demeanor changes. He has taught me so much patience and understanding of dogs having gone through trauma and how wonderful and loving they can be if you can gain their trust. You just need to fine the key - which for him was lots of bacon, chicken, and walks.   Mojo today is excited and dances around every time I come home - instead of running and hiding in the backyard, loves when we go in the yard and lie down in the grass - best time for zoomies, and loves our one on one time at night and the pets that can last for a half hour if you are willing - he's a bit like a kid who asks for one more book to be read at bedtime. He has never shown any destructive behaviors, enjoys sleeping in his crate, has always done all his business outside, doesn't jump on furniture, or people, doesn't bark - except at "intruders" who might be walking their dogs along his fence line or come to the door. He still is skittish with loud sounds and fast movements, but this brave boy certainly knows how to show his love to his person. That person needs to have a heart for traumatized dogs and understand him and accept his cat-like personality, and lets him take the lead on when he is ready and wants the interaction. It's all the sweeter when he does, knowing how brave he has had to be to get to that point.     Mojo arrived at CTDR from a shelter in South Texas and is now fully vetted and ready to find his forever home. He is a timid little guy who needs time and patience to feel safe. When first meeting new people, Mojo may appear nervous and may cower, but as he gets to know you, his entire demeanor softens and his true personality begins to shine. Since Bitsy became his “emotional support dog,” Mojo has made incredible progress. Instead of running away scared, he now comes up to say hello and happily accepts love and pets. He absolutely loves going for walks and playing with Bitsy, follows his person from room to room just to be nearby, and sleeps all night in his crate. Mojo uses the doggie door reliably, quietly patrols the backyard without barking, and continues to improve with meeting new people. He does best when allowed to approach on his own, especially if treats are involved. Mojo would thrive in a calm home without children and would ideally be adopted with Bitsy, though he could also do well with another easygoing, non-alpha dog to learn from and bond with.
