Description

WATCH MY VIDEO...There are some stories that break your heart because you know love was never the problem. Luna is one of those stories. This beautiful 6 month old American Staffordshire Terrier mix, with her striking one of a kind eyes, had a family who truly loved her. They never wanted to say goodbye. But after they were deported, they had no choice. The family members left behind were unable to care for Luna, and suddenly this sweet puppy lost everything she had ever known.Through no fault of her own, Luna found herself in a shelter, trying to understand why the people she loved disappeared. Despite the sadness she's experienced, Luna is still the gentle, loving puppy her family remembers. They shared that she did well with adults and older children and was shy around other dogs. She would do best in a home without cats, because she thinks chasing them is part of the fun and doesn't realize they don't appreciate the game. Luna is full of youthful energy and has a free spirited personality. She would much rather spend time with her people than play with toys. She loves the beach, gets excited for mealtime, enjoys tasty treats, and absolutely melts for belly rubs. If you're sitting down, don't be surprised if she quietly settles right beside you, soaking up every bit of love and attention you have to offer. Her family says she understands Spanish better than English, but we're pretty sure the language she understands best is kindness. Our staff and volunteers have fallen for Luna's sweet and gentle nature. She's a quiet, shy little girl who is still trying to figure out the world around her. On walks, she'll stop to sniff, look around, and take everything in before continuing on. Some new experiences can be a little scary, so she appreciates someone who moves slowly, speaks gently, and helps her build confidence one step at a time. She walks nicely on a leash, enjoys being petted, and makes it very clear when she'd like a few more belly rubs. She simply wants to be close to someone who makes her feel safe. Although she was reported to be shy around other dogs, she has shown little reaction to the dogs in our kennels. We even think a confident canine companion may help show Luna that the world isn't such a scary place after all. Luna has already experienced more loss than any puppy should. What she needs now is a family who will replace uncertainty with security, fear with confidence, and loneliness with unconditional love. She doesn't need a perfect home. She just needs someone who will stay.Could that someone be you?
