Description
Hero is a 1-year-old, 6 lb Chihuahua who may be small in stature but has a hero's journey of epic proportions. She is a survivor of a mass hoarding case where over 40 tiny, but tenacious, dogs were abandoned throughout two counties in northern NJ. These resilient pint-sized pups were thrown from a vehicle into the cold winter woods alone; some trapped in cages, some left wandering. Some did not make it. Hero persevered, though, and truly earned her distinguished name. Despite being found first, this wonder woman sacrificed instant safety by eluding rescuers until she brought them to her best friend: another pup named Tiny Tim who had paralyzed hind legs and was stuck by a river. Not only does Hero deserve a home, but she also deserves a medal of honor. Hero is luckily being fostered by her human hero, the woman who helped find and save all these dogs. Hero has come such a long way from living in a crowded basement to then being tossed into the wilderness to fend for herself, terrified and alone. It's no surprise, Hero loves other dogs so she will need to go to a home with a canine companion because a sidekick always helps a main character shine. Hero's future family will understand she is a flight risk and take proper precautions to protect her and take things at her pace. She uses a pee pad inside to go to the bathroom. She is timid and skittish but can also be outgoing when she is comfortable with her surroundings. She is a dog that does not prefer to be approached but would rather take the initiative to come to you first, roll over for belly rubs, and commandeer your lap if you let her. Once you're in, your attention and pets are all she will want! She is also hysterical and loves to play; she is super-fast and jumps around the entire house like it's a parkour course. Superheroes need to train, right? She is mischievous and does have some spunk to her. She will grab paper products and run around the house with them. Although we assume she's just trying to make herself a cape. She does like to chew so be prepared to spoil her with toys and keep away anything precious, including wires. Hero is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on immunizations. Her adoption fee is $415. Despite being a warrior at heart, Hero finally knows what it is like to be safe and truly cared for. She is sending out the bat signal for her final protector, her ultimate lifesaver to give her a hero's welcome into a furever home.
