Description

Ellie was used for breeding by greedy backyard breeder and then dupped at an overcrowded shelter in the Tampa Bay area.Don’t let the frosty face fool you—Ellie is a senior gal with plenty of spunk! Estimated to be around 7 years old, Ellie is the perfect mix of let’s go! when there’s fun to be had and move over, I need a spot when it’s time to claim the couch. If there is one thing you need to know about Ellie, it’s this: she LOVES a ball. She would prefer to have a toy in her mouth at all times, just in case you happen to be available for a game. Her ideal afternoon is pretty simple—play ball in the yard until she’s had her fill, then curl up on the couch for a well-earned nap. She can be high energy when that ball comes out, but she has a great ability to settle afterward.Ellie also believes every open car door is an invitation. Her foster says, “If the door is open, Ellie is in the car!” She walks well using a prong collar and would make a great companion for someone who wants a dog that can enjoy getting out and doing things but doesn't need to be going nonstop all day. With other dogs, Ellie does best with those who respect her space. She has been through a traumatic pregnancy in her past, and her foster has noticed that she can become protective and motherly toward young Malinois puppies. She also cannot be trusted around cats and will chase livestock smaller than a horse, so her future home will need to keep those limitations in mind. She does not have known exposure to children.Ellie isn't necessarily going to be everyone's best friend the moment they walk through the door—and that's okay. She needs slow introductions to new people and visitors and prefers to take her time getting comfortable. Give her the opportunity to meet someone at her own pace rather than forcing the interaction, and let Ellie decide when she's ready to welcome them into her circle. There are a couple of other things her future family should know. Ellie resource guards food and should be fed separately, and she is absolutely terrified of fireworks. These are manageable pieces of Ellie that her new family will need to understand and plan for rather than put her in situations where she isn't comfortable. At the end of the day, Ellie isn't asking for anything extravagant. Her foster sums it up best: she deserves a loving home where she can play ball in the yard and then nap on the couch. This frosty-faced girl still has plenty of life, personality, and ball-chasing left in her—she just needs the right person to enjoy it with. All MAD dogs come with a Fi Collar and six month subscription. If you are interested in adopting this pet please complete an application at this link  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/24689/generic. ***********************************************************************We are an official 501c3 organization that does not have a physical location.
