Description

Almost 3 years old, Mabel has spent much of her life learning that peace is something worth holding onto. Before rescue, she experienced housing instability and uncertainty...until she met her foster parent, who brought her to KKR.   Now she’s on the path to cozy and comfortable, one that’s filled with soft blankets, sunny windows, quiet observation and the occasional snack break (treats!) with people she loves. Mabel is the self-care you didn't know you needed. She'll remind you to slow down, to sit for a moment and to observe beauty in the world around you (like birds!). Her steady purr will bring intention with her.   Like many thoughtful souls, Mabel can be a little shy or skittish at first. Small children and dogs are incompatible with her lifestyle, unfortunately. But give her kindness, patience and a peaceful space, and she'll share the quiet confidence she's gained. Mabel is a zen girlie who doesn’t take anything or anyone for granted, especially her health.   For Mabel and most cats living with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), that doesn't mean she's sick. FIV-positive cats live normal lives, successfully share homes with FIV-negative cats and rightfully deserve safety, family and acceptance. Mabel doesn’t need special treatment or expensive care, but she dreams of the same things every cat hopes for: love, routine and someone who sees her for who she is.    Mabel’s on her way to finding harmony after hardship. She does well with other mellow cats, but could remain an “only child” in a calm home, with someone who stays with her most the day. She’s spayed, updated on vaccines, dewormed and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $180.   Somewhere out there is a person who's ready to make her a forever friend instead of a temporary roommate. Mabel is manifesting them. Could it be you?   IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This kitty lives with FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), which is a common, slow-acting virus that weakens the immune system over time. FIV is contracted through deep bite wounds from another cat infected with FIV. Cats with FIV live long, happy lives with few restrictions and often do not need special diet or medicine. If you’re interested in this cat, KKR can arrange a meet and greet with the foster.
