Description
Norbert is everything you'd hope for in a big orange cat: goofy, affectionate, charmingly clueless, and filled-to-the-brim with love. At 4 years old and 15 pounds, Norbert is a substantial fellow. He doesn't just sit in your lap - he BECOMES your lap. Once he trusts you, he wants nothing more than to curl up beside you on the couch, climb into your lap for snuggles, and happily share your bed at night. Oh, and treats. He definitely likes treats. Before rescue, Norbert was living as a stray, but he enjoys indoor life (maybe with a catio for some fresh air). He's great with his litterbox and is a calm kitty. Like many former strays, Norbert can be a little nervous when meeting new people. Give him a few days to settle in and you'll discover the cat hiding underneath: a gentle giant with one of the sweetest, silliest personalities. Watching him realize he's safe and loved is so rewarding. Norbert gets along well with other cats and is particularly fond of dogs. He has FIV, but he's healthy and doesn't require any special treatment beyond routine veterinary care and an indoor home. FIV-positive cats generally live long lives, and because Norbert is such a friendly, non-aggressive cat, he poses essentially no risk to feline friends (FIV is only contagious via DEEP bites). One thing to know: Norbert likes to give tiny love bites when he's feeling extra affectionate. They're gentle and well-intentioned, but for that reason a home without small children would probably be best. And let's not forget about Norbert's adorable gum freckles. They're impossible not to love and somehow make him even more endearing. If you're looking for a big boy who is a tad on the awkward side but very sweet, Norbert is your guy. He's enjoyed learning to trust people in his foster home, but he's ready for a family of his very own. Norbert can be visited in Conifer, CO.
