Description
Baguette has spent most of her life putting others first. When she arrived in rescue in October 2025, she was busy raising a litter of puppies and making sure they had everything they needed. Her puppies have all moved on to their forever homes, and now it's finally Baguette's turn.Baguette isn't the type of dog who walks into a room and immediately demands attention. She's thoughtful, observant, and prefers to take her time getting comfortable. When she first arrived in foster care, she spent her days quietly watching from a distance, learning the routine and deciding whether the people around her could be trusted. Her foster family respected her pace, and little by little, Baguette began to let her guard down. Now, nearly eight months later, she has grown so much in confidence, but she is still waiting for her chance at a forever home—and so far, she hasn’t had many serious prospects for adoption. The dog who once preferred to observe from afar now eagerly seeks out affection. She accepts treats from your hand, knows how to sit, loves belly rubs and head scratches, and has become quite the cuddle enthusiast. Whether she's stretched out beside you on the couch or curled up nearby in bed, Baguette enjoys being close to the people she trusts. While she initially thrived in a calm, quieter environment, Baguette has continued to grow in confidence. She now lives comfortably with a busy household that includes two teenagers and has learned that visitors can be friends too. She may still need a little time when meeting new people, but once she feels safe, her sweet personality shines through. One thing has always come naturally to Baguette: other dogs. She absolutely loves her canine companions and truly flourishes with them around. She's currently fostered with both male and female dogs and enjoys playing, exploring, and simply following their lead. A confident, friendly resident dog will be an important part of helping Baguette continue building confidence and navigating new experiences.Like many Heelers, Baguette is smart, observant, and enjoys having opportunities to use her brain. She quickly learned how to use the dog door and loves spending time outdoors, whether she's soaking up sunshine or playing in the snow. She enjoys puzzle toys, games of fetch with her dog friends, and daily walks, which have become one of her favorite activities as her confidence has grown. She occasionally needs reminders about what belongs in the toy basket and what belongs to the humans, but she redirects easily and is eager to learn.Baguette is looking for a family that understands that some of the most rewarding relationships take time to build. She doesn't need someone to rush her—she needs someone willing to celebrate the small victories, respect her pace, and let trust develop naturally. In return, they'll get to watch an incredible dog continue to blossom into the loving, loyal companion she's already becoming. If you have a playful dog, a patient heart, and room for a sweet girl who just needed someone to believe in her, Baguette may be the perfect addition to your family. This pup was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico.Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.
