  This 3-year-old, 55-pound, spayed Pit Bull mix has a story that could have ended very differently. She found herself in a high-kill shelter, heavily pregnant and out of time. Thankfully, she was given a second chance, and her puppies have long since found loving homes. Now it’s Bessie’s turn.   This sweet black-and-white girl doesn’t seem to realize how big she is. She’s happiest curled up next to her people on a soft bed, watching a movie, or soaking up all the love she can get. Bessie has so much affection to give and is ready to be someone’s loyal best friend.   During her spay surgery, we discovered that she had undergone double FHO hip surgery at some point in her past. While we don’t know her full story, it’s clear someone cared enough to help her. Despite everything she’s been through, Bessie doesn’t let it slow her down one bit.   Bessie prefers the company of submissive dogs and loves being with her people. She can clear a fence if given the opportunity, so she’ll need to be leashed or on a secure tie-out when outside.   After surviving so much and spending months raising her puppies, Bessie deserves a family of her own. A family who will give her the love, comfort, and security she’s waited so patiently for.
