Description

Birthday: October 17, 2018 Whitley takes the term docile to a whole new level.  This calm and handsome guy doesn't let anything bother him.  He's so relaxed that he turns anything into a bed.  Floors, walls, couches, chairs... they're all forms of a bed to him! He loves to spend his time snoozing away.  However, he isn't lazy!  Whitley will perk up the second you call out his name.  Then he will run over for some pets! He's incredibly friendly and takes all the attention like it's his life's essence.  Despite sounding like he was born to sleep, he's pretty outgoing! He adores other cats, and his foster believes, with his temperament, he would be good with kids.  While he isn't a fan of being held, he'll allow you to indulge... for a little bit!  His affable behavior is the reason why he was brough to LCCR in the first place! He was found in a TNR operation, but his rescuers noticed that he was just too darn sweet to release back outside.  So they brought him to a vet for a checkup, where it was discovered that he was FIV+.  What does this mean? FIV is a immunodeficiency condition where the cat's immune system can't fight as well as normal cats.  As a result, they are more susceptible to getting sick.  While this may sound scary, it's actually a very misunderstood disease. The main mode of transmission between two cats is through an open wound and the saliva of the other cat enters the blood stream.  Grooming, sharing food and water bowls, and normal play will not infect another kitty. No, humans and other animals CANNOT catch it.  And yes, they can live normal long lives, just like any other kitty.  They might need more routine checkups with their vet, but for the most part, they are just like any other kitty! Whitley doesn't let his condition get the better of him, and neither should you! People would skip out on these cats, and they turn out some of the best pets! So why not give Whitley a chance?  He's an incredible foster kitty, and he's only bound to be a wonderful family addition! Whitley's adoption donation is $115 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and neuter.
