Adoption fee: $650 Meet Tyson Beckford: The Sploot King with a Heart of Gold At just 10–12 months old, Tyson Beckford is already a supermodel in his own right. This handsome Schnauzer mix was rescued from the shelter and has been stealing hearts ever since. Weighing about 45 pounds, Tyson is built low to the ground, giving him a sturdy, compact look that's more "oversized teddy bear" than "big dog." With his scruffy good looks, expressive face, and affectionate personality, it's nearly impossible not to fall in love. A Sweetheart Through and Through Tyson's foster family describes him in one word: sweetheart. From the moment he arrived, Tyson was curious, polite, and eager to be part of the family. He carefully waited for permission before exploring new spaces and quickly learned the house rules. Today, he's completely comfortable in his foster home and has become a devoted companion who wants nothing more than to be wherever his people are. Tyson is the definition of a velcro dog. If you're cooking dinner, he'll be nearby. Folding laundry? Tyson's supervising. Working on a project? He's your enthusiastic assistant. He loves being involved in whatever his humans are doing and happily follows his favorite people from room to room. Despite his playful energy, Tyson has also learned how to settle. When playtime is over and the family sits down for a movie, he'll often climb into a lap and relax, convinced he's much smaller than his 45 pounds suggest. Play Hard, Snuggle Harder Tyson loves to play. Toys are serious business in his world, and he'll happily bring one over to encourage a game of fetch or tug. He's energetic, athletic, and always ready for an adventure, whether that's a neighborhood walk, a hike, or backyard playtime. But Tyson's favorite move might be his signature snuggle initiation: he simply throws his whole body against you and assumes cuddles will commence immediately. And then there's the sploot. Known affectionately as the Sploot King, Tyson stretches out dramatically every single time he settles on the floor. It's become one of his foster family's favorite quirks and never fails to make them smile. A Great Housemate Tyson has proven himself to be an excellent house dog. He's crate trained, sleeps through the night, and has excellent house manners. During the workday, he's trusted with free roam of the first floor of the home and spends his time alternating between naps and independent play. His foster family regularly checks in on him through cameras and reports that he behaves beautifully when left alone. Tyson understands his routine and handles it like a champ. He's also housetrained and does a great job communicating when he needs to go outside. As long as he gets his morning walk on schedule, he's remarkably reliable. Walks, Adventures, and Learning New Things Tyson starts every day with a long morning walk, and it's one of the highlights of his day. When he first arrived, he pulled quite a bit on leash, but he's made impressive progress and continues to improve. He notices squirrels and other animals but doesn't try to chase them. He enjoys meeting other dogs and often lowers himself down to show friendly intentions. He's still learning the finer points of canine social etiquette and would likely enjoy opportunities to continue building positive dog-to-dog interactions. One thing that's impossible to miss about Tyson is how smart he is. Everyone who meets him notices it. He learns quickly, pays attention, and is eager to engage with his people. He's at the perfect age for continued training and would thrive with a family excited to help him reach his full potential. The Ideal Home Tyson would love an active family that enjoys walks, outdoor adventures, playtime, and spending time together. He doesn't need someone home every minute of the day, but he does appreciate being included in family life and forming close bonds with his people. Because he's still a young dog, he's working on some puppy habits, including occasionally using his mouth during play and enthusiastically chewing cardboard and paper if given the opportunity. He's responding well to redirection and will benefit from continued guidance and consistency. In return, his future family will get an incredibly loyal, affectionate, intelligent companion who wants nothing more than to love his people with his whole heart. Why Tyson? Because dogs like Tyson don't come around every day. He's goofy. He's affectionate. He's smart. He's endlessly loyal. He'll make you laugh with his dramatic sploots, melt your heart with his cuddles, and stick by your side through every adventure. If you're looking for a scruffy best friend who is equal parts playmate, hiking buddy, cuddle bug, and devoted companion, Tyson Beckford might just be your perfect match.
