Description

Cookie is an 8-year-old beauty accepting applications for her furever home. She came to PAWs after her original owner suggested euthanasia due to her weight, grooming issues, and reportedly cranky personality.  After a complete check up, the vet determined her problems were completely treatable and she arrived at her foster home weighing nearly 20lbs. She was given space to decompress and lost 5 pounds! She is so much happier now that she can get around so much easier. Although she could probaly lose another pound or two (let's face it, can't we all?), she is able to run around and play now, and she has no more grooming issues as she can groom herself again.Cookie has a unique and beautiful dilute tortie coat and the cutest meow. She was living with a mellow dog and two cats and is now around multiple cats. She likes to be near people, enjoys being petted and brushed, and will sit right next to you or even crawl onto your lap. She is content sleeping in her bed or a sun ray or on her scale. She would do best with an experienced cat owner and could be an only cat or join others with a proper introduction and a safe place to enjoy her meals. Cookie is not suited for a home with small children as she prefers a calm environment and can get overstimulated. She requires a committed owner to keep her weight at a managable level. Although she was on prescription weight management food to help her lose weight initially, she is now eating non-weight management food and remains stable. The key is portion control. She is not a cat who can food out all the time. Rather, she gets small portions of wet and dry food throughout the day (and of course treats). She has no issues using the litter box. Cookie seeks someone who will understand, respect, adore and love her while giving her the space she needs. She knows she is fabulous!  Are you the person who knows it too and will give her a second chance?
